Ellie keeps saying, “NO Ma’am Isaac, NO Ma’am!”

Annie just told me, “I hurt my ankle, so I can’t help fold the laundry”.
Hmmmm?

I’m trying to find the JOY in getting out of bed each morning! For some reason I don’t bounce out of bed anymore. These days I wake up a little achy with a slight headache. I usually try to bury my head in several pillows to avoid hearing the beautiful “chirping” sounds of my children.
Don’t get me wrong, our kiddos are GREAT in the morning! They follow the rules exactly: patiently staying in their beds until 8:00AM and not opening their door until 8:21AM. BUT they do wake up extra hungry and happy with a lot of new found energy!
We have four kids now and our youngest is only 3 months old. I altered his schedule last night (really because I was too tired) so he woke up at 3:30AM and 7:30AM for a feeding. Then you throw in my hubby stealing one of my pillows in the middle of the night…. I was woken up at least three times prior to my 8:21AM wake up call!
Gee – it sounds like I’m complaining! Well, I am and this is PRECISELY the problem!I am lacking THANKFULNESS! And this is exactly what I tell myself every morning. There’s an endless list of all that I should be thankful for! So I beg God for forgiveness and ask for more grace and wisdom as I drag myself out of bed and into the kitchen.
Usually as soon as I see those smiling faces I forget my “woe is me” attitude and simply enjoy the precious gifts God has given me!!! The word that eventually comes to mind is JOY! That’s what our life is full of right now! Sleep will come later.
